Is Edelman out of touch with the Twitter world?

Saw a tweet from Steve Rubel who works at the leading PR agency Edelman linking to a video of how you can explain what a tweetup is to your friends.

How to explain to your friends what a Tweet-up is http://bit.ly/166hFI

So I thought.. great, I like videos trying to explain what Twitter and other Twitter apps are all about. Clicked on the video and watched 10 seconds of it and closed the youtube page for that clip. Spoiler Alert. Fast moving screenshots of Tweets zooming in and out.

What's so bad:

  1. Screenshots of the messages started to fade or transition out of the video screen before I can read what the tweetups statuses were about,
  2. An irritating audio track with techno beats.
  3. Brought back bad memories of bad infomericals on my ex-Comcast channels.
  4. This is so traditional-style media marketing.

What's good: The YouTube video preview screen shot since that was the only video frame that I could read.

Twitter is about simplicity and the video just fails to deliver the message and representing what Twitter (in this case, an use case of Twitter) is.

Compare these 2 videos are tell me which one works for you.
